What to Pack

• Athletic Shoes: You can use any type of athletic shoes for our scenic driving tours. Having comfortable shoes is essential for producing an enjoyable hiking experience during your visit. We allow flip-flops and sport sandals on any of our scenic driving outings. For creekside outings, please feel free to bring water shoes or sport sandals as a secondary pair of shoes for creek crossings and swimming. 

• Wool/Coolmax Socks: Wool socks will allow you to wear them for multiple days of exploring, keep your feet warm in the colder months, and prevent blisters better than any other material available. Coolmax socks will prevent your feet from overheating and are great during the warmer months in Sedona. Cotton socks will work fine for our driving based outings, but we would strongly advise wool/coolmax if you intend on hiking or walking significant distances during your visit.

• Hats: Wide brimmed and/or full coverage hats for sun protection during the Summer in Sedona. We recommend Suncloud®/Tilley®/Outdoor Research® for hats and Buff® for Coolmax® bandanas. We recommend baseball cap style hats in Spring, Fall, and Winter.

• Rain Shell: Rain shell, waterproof/breathable jacket if there is a 20% change of rain (or more) during your visit. Our guides will have emergency rain ponchos in the event of unforeseen precipitation. Our guides will always have disposable rain ponchos for your group if precipitation is in the forecast.

• Breathable Shirts/UPF Hoodies: UPF protective shirts are recommend to protect against the sun. We recommend lighter colors as they draw less heat from the sun. The best materials are wool blends (during Winter) and Coolmax for breathability during Fall, Spring, and Summer. Our favorite type of all season hiking shirts are UPF hoodies. These allow you to protect your face, neck, and arms from the sun while also keeping you cool and comfortable on the trails. This is our favorite piece of hiking gear and can make a huge difference during the warmer months in Sedona. Our guides will always have UPF hoodies available for you to borrow for free on any of our hikes in a plethora of colors for your choosing.

• Pants/Shorts: Zip off convertible pants (All seasons), breathable hiking pants (Winter/Late Fall/Early March), or shorts (Summer/Late Spring/Early Fall).  We recommend Kuhl, Prana, or Columbia as the best brands for zip-offs, hiking pants, and shorts.

• Sunscreen: We advise wearing at least 30+SPF Sport Sunscreen at all times of the year while hiking in Sedona. Our guides will always carry 30+SPF sunscreen with insect repellant if you need some during your outing.

• Thin Fleece Jacket/Light Puffy Jacket: If you're attending a Two Hour: Sonoran Sunset / Two Hour: Desert Paradise, or starting your outing near sunrise -- we would highly recommend bringing either a thin fleece or light puffy jacket to keep you comfortable. 

Additional Clothing for Outings in December - February

• Gloves/Beanie: Wool beanie and light gloves. Mittens are the warmest option if you're extremely sensitive to the cold. Our guides will always have beanies, gloves, and neck gaiters for you to borrow during Fall, Winter, and Spring.

• Layering: Long underwear, one pair of wicking tops and bottoms that are lightweight to mid-weight. Recommended wicking materials include capilene, wool, Coolmax, and poly. Our guides will always have additional upper body layers for you to borrow if needed.

• Jackets: Additional fleece jacket or insulated coat; warm, lightweight and packable. Down jackets or synthetic fill puffy jackets are ideal for layering.

• Insulated Pants: Insulated pants during January/February if sensitive to colder temperatures. Alternatively, wearing leggings under your pants will ensure you're comfortable in colder conditions.

• Shell: Waterproof/breathable rain jacket or shell. This can help seal the warmth of your other layering pieces and should be packed if precipitation is in the forecast or snow is present in the Winter. Our guides will always have disposable rain ponchos and rain jackets for you if there is a chance of precipitation in the forecast.
